Roborock Xiaowa E2 Features and Specifications
Roborock Xiaowa E2 comes in two colors and their labels differ:
- Roborock Xiaowa E20 - white color,
- Roborock Xiaowa E25 - black color,
but essentially, these are all Roborock Xiaowa E2 robot vacuums/mops.
Roborock Xiaowa E2 is compact unit, featuring 13.78 inches (35 cm) width and 3.54 inches (9 cm) height. Also, it weighs only 6.61 lbs (3 kg).
Xiaowa E2 is powered via 2600 mAh lithium battery, which is enough for 90-100 minutes of bare floors vacuuming, when the unit is able to cover 120-150 m2. When the unit is mopping and especially when the unit is vacuuming carpets, its operating time is shorter.
Thanks to its navigation system, when the battery is discharged, unit can located charging station, charge the battery and resume with the cleaning task. To fully charge the discharged battery, it takes ~240 minutes (4 hours).
To help the unit locate the charging station, it is recommended to place the charging station at the wall, with some free space (no obstacles) around it.
Roborock Xiaowa E2 features dual gyroscope system, combined with dual optical laser, LED motion tracking sensors, bumper sensor, cliff sensors and other few other sensors that enable the unit to map the area, plan its optimal route and to return to the charging station.
However, even such set of sensors are not able to make as accurate map as high-precision LDS (LIDAR) mapping sensor found at Roborock S5 robot vacuum, which of course, costs more than Roborock Xiaowa E2.
Unit is rated at 50 watts max and during operation it is very quiet - around 55 dB.
Note: although it combines two function in one unit, Roborock Xiaowa E2 is simple to use and maintain vacuum cleaner. But, just in case, when the unit arrives, be sure to read the manual.
Maximum suction of the Roborock Xiaowa E2 is 1800 Pa, which is good suction for the robot vacuum in its price class.
To preserve the battery, unit doesn't use maximum suction all the time. For example, thanks to its sensors, unit is capable to recognize the carpeted areas and to automatically increase its suction using so-called 'Carpet Boost'.
While Balanced Mode on the bare floors ensures almost 100 minutes of operation, when using Max Mode on short-pile carpets operating time is shortened down to 60 minutes and when using the same Max Mode on medium-pile carpets, operating time is shortened down to 50 minutes.
As vacuum cleaner, Roborock Xiaowa E2 combines single side brush, main brushroll and variable suction:
- single side brush features variable (dynamic) speed. When the unit is in 'Edge Mode' cleaning, side brush rotates at 330 rpm, and when it is not in the 'Edge Mode', side brush is slowed down to 130 rpm. Such operation ensures thorough cleaning of the edges, saves energy and prevents scattering of larger debris.
- main brushroll is design to 'float' across the cleaned surfaces, ensuring constant contact with the cleaned surfaces and more thorough cleaning.
- variable suction ensures good vacuuming and saving energy and prolonging the operating time.
One of the interesting features of Roborock Xiaowa E2 is the option to use robot for both vacuuming and mopping at the same time.
Note: mopping is recommended for bare sealed floors only. It is not recommended for carpets, for example.
Roborock Xiaowa E2 uses drawer-type water tank (and mop holder) which is attached from the rear of the unit at its bottom. As the unit travels its route, it vacuums and mops at the same time.
Roborock Xiaowa E2 maximum obstacle height is 0.79 inches (20 mm) and this height is decreased when the water tank is attached to the unit.
Water tank capacity is ~150 ml and dirt cup capacity is 640 ml.
Roborock Xiaowa E2 features high-precision botanically biomimetic vascular bundle filter which connects the water tank and the mopping cloth, and release the water using capillary principle - mopping pad is kept wet and when the unit stops, the water is stops automatically, preventing the water loss.
Despite water filters/valves, and moisture-proof mat, it is not recommended to charge the vacuum with the water tank and mop attached to the unit.
Mop pads can be washed and reused - some users even order several spare mop pads to have few ready to go at the moment notice.
If you have large areas of bare floors, combining vacuuming and mopping can create great results, and save time and effort - don't expect that this mopping robot can replace human when detailed mopping is required, but for everyday cleaning, it is more than good enough.
Using Mi Home App, user can schedule daily cleaning tasks, can monitor the unit and set many other options. Also, using its WiFi connectivity, Roborock Xiaowa E2 supports the use of Amazon Alexa and Google Home Assistant.
Although Mi Home App doesn't support the Roborock Xiaowa E2 use of no-go zones and zone cleaning, Mi Home App allows the user to draw virtual wall lines to prevent the unit entering certain zones.
Also, Roborock Xiaowa E2 support the use of magnetic strips, although magnetic boundary strips are not included (they can be ordered from online stores).
Dirt cup is easily emptied, but if your floors are not heavily soiled, 640 ml capacity can last few days - personally, empty the dirt cup on a daily basis and don't think if the dirt cup is full or not.
Roborock Xiaowa E2 features non-washable HEPA E11 air filter. According to the manufacturer this E11 air filter is capable of capturing 99.2% of 0.3 microns or larger particles, which is good.
However, actual HEPA E11 standard states that E11 air filter capture 95% of 0.3 microns or larger particles - which could be better.
Roborock Xiaowa E2 Maintenance
Roborock Xiaowa E2 is not maintenance free unit. Common maintenance tasks include:
- emptying the dirt bin regularly. Depending on the cleaned surface, dirt bin can be emptying even on the weekly basis, although daily basis is recommended.
- clean the filter once a week by tapping it onto the hard inner surface of the trash can. Note: Roborock Xiaowa E2 filter is NOT washable.
- main brushroll should be checked once a week and if required cleaned from entangled hair and lint.
- side brush should be cleaned monthly or as required.
- omni-directional wheel should be checked monthly and cleaned if required.
- sensors and charging dock connections should be cleaned monthly.
Note: for exact maintenance procedures, check the manual.
If the parts are worn out, they must be replaced - commonly, it is up to the user to replace the side brush, main brushroll, air filter and mop pad.
The best option is to order Roborock Xiaowa E2 replacement kits, containing all of the required parts.
Roborock Xiaowa E2 comes with 12 months limited warranty.
