O-Cedar Microfiber Steam Mop Features and Specifications
Using hot steam, O-Cedar Microfiber Steam Mop sanitize the floors, by killing 99.9% of bacteria and other germs in laboratory conditions - in real life that percentage can be even higher, if the steam is applied long enough.
That being said, steam mops in general are used for cleaning surfaces that can tolerate hot steam which is hot (hence the name) and wet/moist.
O-Cedar Microfiber Steam Mop comes with adjustable steam mop power, allowing the user to set the steam mop intensity to desired level.
When the power is set to the lowest, O-Cedar Microfiber Steam Mop produces 14g of steam per minute and when the power is set to the maximum, it produces 23g of steam per minute.
O-Cedar Microfiber Steam Mop features 1550 watts (~13 Amps) water heater, which requires some 20 seconds to start to produce the steam.
Power cord is typical for steam mops, it is 20 feet (~6.1 m) long and manually wrapped around storage hooks on the unit.
One of the important features is that O-Cedar Microfiber Steam Mop also has power On/Off button - most steam mops start the water heater as soon as the power cord is plugged in, which can be problem in certain situations.
O-Cedar Microfiber Steam Mop weighs only 5 pounds (~2.3 kg) with empty water tank and is easily used and carried around even by elderly people.
Water tank is not detachable, and its capacity is 400 ml, allowing the unit to operate for ~17 minutes using maximum power setting and up to ~28 minutes using the lowest power setting.
O-Cedar Microfiber Steam Mop comes with 200 ml filling flask, allowing the user to easily fill the water tank.
Note: O-Cedar Microfiber Steam Mop is simple to use and maintain steam mop, however, before the very first use, be sure to read the manual thoroughly.
O-Cedar Microfiber Steam Mop is intended for cleaning bare, heat and moisture resistant floors like tiles, marble and similar. Also, it can be used to clean and sanitize more sensitive floors like hardwood and laminate and similar, if and only if such floors are certified for such cleaning and have their surface finish in good condition. Otherwise, hot steam will penetrate into the floor and over time cause it to buckle and even rot - this warning applies not only to O-Cedar Microfiber Steam Mop, but to all steam mops in general.
And that being said, O-Cedar Microfiber Steam Mop features adjustable power, which many other steam mops lack - when cleaning hardwood and laminate, be sure to use the lowest power setting.
O-Cedar Microfiber Steam Mop physical dimensions are: length 200 mm (~8 inches), width 300 mm (~12 inches) and height 1200 mm (~47 inches).
Unit uses triangular steam head, 300 mm (~12 inches) wide and some 200 mm (~8 inches) long. Such shape improves cleaning of the edges and corners and thanks to the lightweight design and the swivel mechanism, O-Cedar Microfiber Steam Mop can reach and clean many spaces that are 'problematic' to other steam mops that use rectangular steam heads.
O-Cedar Microfiber Steam Mop also features two types of microfiber steam mop pads, one is rather soft for steaming hardwood and other sensitive floors and for everyday use, while other steam mop pads is 'scrubby' pad, intended for cleaning of the stubborn stains and similar dirt on the heat and moisture resistant floors (pet messes on tiles, for example).
Steam mop pads are machine washable, which is very handy.
Note: when replacing the dirty pad with the clean one, note that the dirty one may still be hot, so be careful. Also, to increase the period between dirty-clean mop pad change, vacuum extra dirty floors first.
What's in the Box?
When O-Cedar Microfiber Steam Mop arrives, it must be assembled, which can be done rather easily and quickly.
Box contain the steam mop, two steam mop pads, carpet glider, filling flask and the manual/instructions.
Carpet glider is used for steaming the carpets and area rugs. It helps the unit to traverse such areas more easily, but the actual cleaning is not as good as the cleaning of bare floors - the heat from the steam refreshes the carpet and the microfiber pad cleans carpet surface, but most of the dirt is left in the carpet.
Thus, before steaming your carpets, vacuum them first and then check if they tolerate steam mop cleaning and only them feel free to steam clean your carpets.
Tap Water vs. Demineralized Water
O-Cedar recommends the use of tap water with their steam mop, and they also provide exact procedure how to remove limescale deposits from internal components - check the manual for exact procedure, just let me tell you that it involves using (steaming) white vinegar in the steam mop itself.
Personally, demineralized water is much better choice - it does cost more, but it is almost mineral free water, leaves no residue on the water heater, there are no streaks and marks on the floors etc.
If the user can get distilled water instead of demineralized water, even better.
Perhaps the best choice for steam mops is the scented demineralized water, since such water doen't cause limescale deposits, it is excellent for cleaning the floors and it leaves a nice, refreshing fragrance in the air after cleaning.
For Short: O-Cedar Microfiber Steam Mop is lightweight, strong and easy to use and maintain steam mop. It is also very affordable unit that features 1-Year Limited Warranty.
