Eureka NEC222 HyperClean Features and Specifications
Eureka NEC222 HyperClean can be used as cordless stick vacuum or as cordless handheld vacuum.
In cordless stick vacuum mode, Eureka NEC222 HyperClean weighs 6.5 pounds (~2.95 kg) and in combination with full swivel mechanism of the main cleaner head, unit is very maneuverable and can easily reach and clean areas under and around floor objects and obstacles.
As a handheld unit, Eureka NEC222 HyperClean can be used with or without cleaning wand. Cleaning wand can be detached from the main cleaner head using foot pedal and accepts both cleaning tools that come with this unit, Crevice tool and Dusting Brush tool.
Crevice tool is designed for cleaning corners, edges, between mattresses and car seats and similar hard-to-reach areas. Also, it increases the reach of the unit, especially when used with the cleaning wand.
Dusting brush features bristles that in combination with the relatively strong air flow pick up and remove the dirt into the vacuum.
Eureka NEC222 HyperClean is powered with 6 cell, 21.6 volts lithium ion battery, which is able to power unit up to 30 minutes when the unit is used in Normal suction mode.
For cleaning tough messes and piles of dirt, MAX suction mode is available, which increases the unit's suction, but also shortens the operating time.
Eureka NEC222 HyperClean features energy efficient main suction motor and the whole unit is rated at 220 watts.
Eureka NEC222 HyperClean comes with the motor thermal protection system - if the air flow through the vacuum is decreased or fully blocked, motor cooling is decreased and its temperature may rise. If that happens, thermal protection system turn the motor off, preventing any damage of the motor or rest of the unit.
When that happen, turn off the unit, check and remove any clogs in the unit, empty the dirt bin, check the filters and let the unit cool down for at least 30 minutes, after which the thermal protection will reset itself, allowing the user to continue with the cleaning.
Note: Eureka NEC222 HyperClean is simple to use and maintain vacuum cleaner, but just in case, when the unit arrives, be sure to thoroughly read the manual. And charge the battery for at least 4 hours.
Eureka NEC222 HyperClean Main Cleaner Head
Eureka NEC222 HyperClean features main cleaner head optimized for vacuuming both bare and carpeted floors. It features very low profile, allowing it to reach and clean under beds, sofas and similar common household objects.
Main cleaner head brushroll is designed to be used on the carpeted areas. As the brushroll spins, its bristles agitate the carpet surfaces, at the same time pulling pet and human hair, lint, fibers and other similar debris out of the carpet, helping to remove deeply embedded an stubborn dirt.
Also, brushroll picks piles of dirt very efficiently, without scattering them around, at least not in the Normal suction mode.
Brushroll does excellent job, but it is not maintenance free tool - from time to time, user has to remove tangled hair and fibers from the brushroll.
Main cleaner head also features strong LED headlights, which help in cleaning in low light conditions (under beds, for example).
Using simple foot pedal, main cleaner head can be quickly detached from the cleaning wand, enabling the user to operate the Eureka NEC222 HyperClean in handheld mode when required.
Eureka NEC222 HyperClean Air Filtration
Eureka NEC222 HyperClean features transparent dirt cup that can be emptied in two ways:
- dirt cup can be opened from below and emptied directly into the trash can,
- dirt cup can be detached from the unit and emptied into the trash can.
By making the dirt cup detachable, it is very easy for the user to reach and when required, clean and wash pre-motor air filters.
Air filtration is based on the cyclonic action and pre- and post-motor air filters.
Proper cyclonic action depends on the amount of vacuumed dirt, so when the dirt bin is full, empty it - it is recommended to empty the dirt bin after each use.
Pre-motor air filter consists of filter screen, foam filter and fiber filter and they are washable using plain water. After rinsing, air filters must be dried completely - never operate the unit with wet filters or not filters at all.
Pre-motor air filter should be washed/rinsed every month, although this depends on the vacuum usage, type and amount of vacuumed dirt.
Post-motor air filter is also washable (rinse it under plain water) and it also must be completely dry before assembling it back into the unit.
The combination of cyclonic action and air filters remove 99% of 0.3 microns or larger vacuumed particles.
Eureka NEC222 HyperClean is not true HEPA air filter (99.97% of 0.3 microns or larger particles), but it also features very low energy losses during air filtration. For short, air filtration is acceptable, but could be perhaps better.
Eureka NEC222 HyperClean Storing and Charging
Eureka NEC222 HyperClean comes with wall mount which enables the user to store vacuum cleaner and both cleaning attachments.
Also, wall mount help with the charging - the charger is plugged into the wall and its charging plug into the vacuum which features battery status indicator. When the battery is fully charged, charger can be easily unplugged, especially if the unit is not going to be used for longer period of time (weeks, for example).
By storing the vacuum cleaner vertically, its storage footprint is kept to the minimum. Also, wall mount makes the unit easily accessible, which can be very important, especially in emergencies (great not only for parents and pet owners!).
Eureka NEC122 PowerPlush Cordless Vacuum Cleaner vs. Eureka NEC222 HyperClean Lightweight Cordless Cleaner
Eureka NEC122 PowerPlush and Eureka NEC222 HyperClean are two very similar units, sharing many design features. But, they also differ in some very important features.
Both Eureka NEC122 PowerPlush and Eureka NEC222 HyperClean are convertible, cordless, bagless vacuum cleaners, featuring 21.6 volts lithium ion batteries, and washable air filters.
Beside color, they also differ in few other details:
- Both Eureka NEC122 PowerPlush features main cleaner head with plush brushroll, optimized for bare floors, while Eureka NEC222 HyperClean features main cleaner head with bristles brushroll, optimized for carpeted areas,
- Eureka NEC122 PowerPlush doesn't feature LED headlights, doesn't come with MAX suction mode, can't turn off the brushroll, it's main cleaner head doesn't feature foot pedal for detaching it from the cleaning wand,
- Eureka NEC122 PowerPlush is also somewhat lighter (5.3 vs. 6.5 pounds) and cheaper unit, although exact price difference varies.
For Short: If you are looking for a good, convertible, stick/handheld vacuum cleaner, consider one of these models.
People having mostly bare floors, should consider Eureka NEC122 PowerPlush vacuum as their preferred choice.
But, Eureka NEC222 HyperClean, despite weight and price difference, should be preferred choice for most users.
